Hello all,

Our church uses Quickbooks Basic edition to manage our finances.
Though we have been using it for years we have never used a credit
card with it.

We have a credit card that we use for many purchases. Unfortunately
we cannot figure out how to make payments towards that card that will
reflect the individual items on it so they show up in thier respective
accounts (i.e. utilites, groceries, building materials, etc).
Obviously we have to pay the credit card bill as a whole but would
like the individual items to show up seporately in Quickbooks.

I hope someone can help.

Set-up the CC in your chart of accounts - then, you can enter each
individual charge to proper expense, or enter current months charges as
lump sum, but break down to individual expenses. This account can be (and
should) be reconciled to the CC statement just as a bank account is
reconciled. At the end of the reconciliation you are given the option to
write a check, or enter a bill for payment. Either is fine, but if you
enter a bill for payment, only enter the amount you are going to pay on the
CC, if you are not going to pay balance in full. HTH

First create a new credit card account under Account Type Credit Card.
Now when you purchase any goods or utilities through credit card, go
to Credit Card Charges under Banking Navigator. Mention the Card Name
and select Charge. Pay credit card Bill through Write Check option
from the banking Navigator.

Thanks to both of you.

I will give it a try this weekend and see if I can manage it :)

Cheers.
