How do I delete payees from autocomplete?

Using Quicken 2002 Basic

I am having trouble w/ Autocomplete prompts coming up for Payees that I've
deleted. Here is the problem I have:

- I go to the Online Center to pay a bill online

- I click on the PAYMENTS tab

- I start typing in Chase World Mastercard..

- and the name Chase Platinum Mastercard pops up.which is a Payee I deleted
1 year ago.

The reason this really annoys me is that once a payee has been set
up..Sprint Telephone for instance.I can never use that title again even if I
delete it and try to recreate it. This came up a lot since we recently
moved and many of our utilities gave us a new account number. The account
number is one thing you can't change in a payee.so you have to delete it and
recreate it. But now Sprint won't work since it's been used previously
(even though it's been deleted).seems to be part of the memory that is
lingering similar to the Autocomplete problem above.

I'm about to totally uninstall Quicken and reinstall it.starting fresh so I
can get the Payee names back I'm use to. But I thought I should try here
first.

Thanks

I don't think a reinstall will help; I think that the source of
the problem has to do with the way that Billpay works and what
is stored in your Quicken data fileset, and what is stored at
the billpay organization. I don't believe any of those will
change with a reinstall of the software.

From what I read in the archives, it is possible to delete
online payees, and, I think, to reuse the name again with a new
account number; but the technique may matter. What did you do
to delete the payees?

Here are a couple of suggestions I found in the archives;
perhaps one may help you.

1.) Hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys while deleting the payee

2.) a.) delete online payee
b.) delete same payee from memorized transaction list
c.) do a One Step Update with no accounts checked for
download
If this does not do the trice the first time, repeat any
steps necessary (supposedly, it will work the second time, if it
did not the first time)
