If an employee for a limited company is paid £8 an hour net and is doing a 40 hour week, how much tax should the company set aside to pay HMRC? Could the employee be paid the gross amount and pay the tax themselves?

Depends on their tax code. All payments to employees should be processed through the payroll.

    No.
