I may have to find a good tax advisor this year

I have always been able to slog through the brutal IRS
terminology and figure out what to do but this year is
different. I got divorced in July of 2004 and all kinds of
property issues have come up. She got this, I got that, we
sold this and that and we have 1099s with both names on them
and we split everything up and we had dependants and on and
on. Is there some kind of special instruction book that
pertains to "What if I get Divorced?" This is so
complicated and messy it will probably cost me a fortune to
have some expert sort it out. I think I will just file a
request for an extension and wait until after the big rush
season is over and then find someone. Anyone have a name of
someone that specializes in divorced people's tax issues? I
live in Houston. Any comments would be appreciated. You all
are so kind to dispense your knowledge and wisdom to us
tax-law challenged huddled masses.

Goto: www.naea.org

that is our national association web site, and you can find
someone in your area with phone numbers. Pick three, then
call them, briefly describe situation to see if they are
qualified.

Tell 'em Harlan sent you. (grin)

Seriously, the fact you got their name/number from NAEA will
probably serve as your entre, even THOUGH this be April
11th.
