IB and sick notes

H

hummmm

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how long you have to hand in sick notes to the dwp
for?... im a single parent and have been on anti-depressants for about
3/half yrs. I am on income support, I kept being advised to claim IB by ppl
I knew so just over a year ago I did. My doctor put on the sick note that is
been diagnosed in start 2001, dwp said they could only back date it for 6
months. Anyway I have been handing in sick notes now including the back date
for well over a year.

Is this normal? many peope have said you only ment to hand them in for a
year and they then get you to see thier doctors so you dont have to hand in
any more sick notes, but when i rang dwp they told me I had to hand in sick
notes for all the time that im ill.

Can someone help please and clear this up for me.

Thanks

You will have to hand sicknotes into the DWP for a term not longer than 28 weeks if
on SSP.....
BTW you should have stopped this by now if not sooner an have been seen by a DWP
practitioner...

Hi

WHen my wife wa first diagnosed with CFS/ME she had to send the DwP/BA
a Sick Note for a while.

After a fairly short while in IB at the Higher Rate they said to stop
sending them.

After hew second consultation with a BA/DwP contracted practitioner
they sent her a letter saying that they would review her case again in
another SEVEN years.

Only contact them if anything changed!

That would take her to 3 months after normal retirement age.

Still it keeps her off the Official Unemployment figures - which is
what the Government want (and then they complain about all the ones
claiming IB!

Regards

David
