Identity crisis - Fidelity

After 12 years of buying on-line ISA's through Fidelity they have
decided that they don't know who I am, despite having my NI number,
bank account details (for dividend payments), address, telephone
number, and details of telephone calls to them and from them.

They now have decided that I should send them my passport or
photographic driving licence (I only have an old style one) and some
other proof of address, originals or certified copies.

What gives?

Don't know but the same for me last October. Had to get a couple of
certified copies, cost £6 from the Post Office, a complete farce along
the lines of "just stamp there and sign/print under it"

It came along shortly after they changed administrators mid 2009 so I
suspect some quality control bozzo found a non-complience in the old
records.

Sent a winge-ing covering letter and to their credit they did reply.
