Hi, My sister is on income support she has two children still at school, she
asked me to ask if she can get a grant for uniforms for both children, one
is in
primary school the others in secondary school but they both were uniforms,
plus if she can is this grant applied for twice a year, or is it only one
grant a year per child?

It depends within which Local Authority your sister lives. Uniform grants
have been eroded severely over the last few years with many not offering any
help whatsoever and some offering a token amount. For example Kingston upon
Thames do not provide any uniform grants but Bexley offer some help per
child but only 4 times during there whole schooling (either Reception Y1 or
Y2 and then KS2 , KS3 and KS4 I think)
Your best bet would be to google for school uniform grants in your area in
Google or contact the LA directly.

The grants are available for school years 1,3,5,7,9,11, you can usually go
to the ed/welfare dept(not entirely sure) and fill out a form for the
folling year, provided they are going in to the years ive stated, best to do
it june/july, and if you qualify then you will recieve a cheque in the post
around the end of aug I think
