Internet domain sale, tax treatment

I

Ignoramus5766

I have a certain domain, say example.com, that a certain company wants
to buy for a certain amount. I had this domain since 2001.
(informational type website)

My first question is, can it qualify as a long term capital gain, as
opposed to income.

My second question is, just what can I stick into the "cost" of it for
tax purposes. Some people say that only the initial registration fee
is the cost. Could anything else be creatively, but legally, classified
as cost basis.

thanks
