Job search costs from past years tax deductible; I didn't realize that
they were until recently, so I wonder if I can do anything for past
years now retrospectively. I can assure you that I can easily
reconstruct who I interviewed with in the past due to my various e-
mails and thank you letter files.

If indeed they are tax deductible - bring all the information to a qualified tax preparer to be sure - you can file an amended return. However, before doing so you'll want to find out if the change in your tax liability (or refund, if applicable) is enough to be worth the cost of filing said amended return.
