Late accounts filing

Just a quick question,

I've been offered some freelance work with a local company. They've offered
a decent amount to arouse my interest, however, there seems to be a bit of
an issue with the past history of the company. They were incorporated in
August 2003, and to this date have not filed anything with Companies House.
Apparently the Accounting Reference Date was changed to the end of November
2005 - but my understanding is that you have to file accounts within 22
months of incorporation?

Could someone advise as to whether they are likely to be fined dating from
August 2003 or whether the fines will take place from November instead?
Obviously I can't approach them to ask when they're going to file their
accounts, but I'm very reluctant to carry out a significant amount of work
without having seen their accounts.

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to obtain a credit report for a
company that has never filed accounts?

Thank you,
Michael

They could have obtained an extension but otherwise it looks as though
they may have copped a £100 fine - big deal.

Of course. The accounts won't tell you much. Start up companies often
make big losses and have debts and loans.

You are correct.

Is the fining and filing issue important? Some companies can be pretty
disorganised with accounts and still be perfectly fine to do business
with.
Also, does anyone know if it is possible to obtain a credit report for a
company that has never filed accounts?
You can get them but they may not say much. It depends if anything
else has been brought to the providers attention.
Thank you,
Michael
