UK Late Companies House filing penalties

I submitted 2015 accounts for my LLP in November 2015 but they were apparently not registered/received (I did not check Cos House website). I only became aware of this in August 2016 when I was contacted by Cos House, when I immediately resubmitted. I subsequently received a £1500 penalty notice. I did not receive any previous penalty notice. Do I have any grounds to appeal either the fact if the fine or the amount?
