Limited or PLC

I know of a company which used to be a plc.
It ceased to trade on the Stock Exchange some time ago.

According to Companies House its name is "<The Company Name> Limited"

but Company Type: Private Limited Company

What is significance of this if anything?

(The shares are not traded on SE - and holders can only sell to
existing shareholders)

PLC = Public limited company. Tougher regs & compliance (audit, min paid up
chare capital, qualified Coy Sec, etc) Doesn't have to be publicly quoted
in order to be a PLC.

Ltd = Private Ltd Coy. Fewer regs etc.

A company can switch from Ltd to PLC and vice versa - subject to compliance
etc.

Seems to me they've changed correctly from Plc to Ltd

Plc stands for Public Limited Company, not Private Limited Company.
