Managing Fiscal Year

When it comes to user-friendliness and descriptive, helpful error messages, I
think MSBA is probably the worse accounting product on the shelves. I am
trying to close the 2006 fiscal year and I get the following error message:

"Could not modify the current record because it has dependencies. (For
example, an item that appears on one or more documents cannot be deleted.)"

Good thing they gave an example :). So what does this mean and how can I
fix it?

It sounds like a general accounting message that usually happens when you try
to say, delete a chart of account that you used for a journal entry. You can
disable that account so it does not appear in a drop-down for future entries
but you have an entry that uses that account so it cannot be deleted.

Do not know if that helps but I think you have a similar situation?

None of my accounts are inactive. I wouldn't think it would be that
difficult for a program to take the balances in the income and expense
accounts and write them off to retained earnings.

This would not be related. Amounts to Retained Earnings is generally a
reporting computation as opposed to a physical entry. Either way this is not
related to that kind of error message.

I have the same issue. Did you find out how to overcome the issue?

How about posting the Article Number of the hotfix, so when someone
calls Microsoft they don't have to pay for a support call?
