Microsoft Money 2003

I currently use MS Money 2003 and find it up to the job that I require in
nearly all ways.
The only problem I have is that I cannot save backups to an external hard
drive. There only appears permission to save to only the main hard drive C:
or a Zip100 drive. This Zip drive needs defragging continually else the
closing of the programme takes ages.
Any helpful guidance would be appreciated.
I would need careful step-by-step guidance please.

Have you tried backing up to a USB Flash drive?
I would need careful step-by-step guidance please.
Plug in drive.
See if scheduled backup choice lists that drive as a removable
drive.

If nothing else works, copy the latest *.mbf file from your hard
drive to the media of choice. Change the filename to an appropriate
*.mbf name so that you can have more than one vintage. Example:From
a command window,
copy Eric.mbf G:eric080718.mbf

If I remember right this was a weakness of M2003. You have to save to, say,
the C: drive and then separately copy to external media! PITA but fixed in
later versions.
