Microsoft Money Plus and future versions

And since they are not going to distribute Money to retailers how does one
get a copy when you do not have online access or have a dialup connection?

Kevin
If only! There would be some product changes......... :)

I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for.
Australia and UK are still on a 2005 version-and MS Australia/UK don't
do Money downloads (unlike in the US).

And with no update this year-does it mean the UK will never see a new
version?

If you have no intention of using the on line features, then an older,
expired version will do. You can get one at very low cost from various
sources such as Ebay.

Well, that doesn't really answer my question, does it! I have dial-up, I do
use the online features (some of them anyway). How do I get the newest
version? It would take hours if not even days to download from my
connection.

Thought of switching to broadband?

Do you want to pay the $17000 (actual quote from cable company) to run the
cable to my house!! It's not available in my area! Neither is DSL. I
could, maybe do satellite but that's too expensive.

Go to the US newsgroup - this one is for UK
I suspect he may not have known that he and you were cross-posting.
(This post is not cross-posted.)

but RickA looked at the top of the thread and saw this:

microsoft.public.money, microsoft.public.uk.money

which seems to indicate it does duty for both.

That's because I started a thread about future versions that was applicable
to US and UK, so posted to both groups. When you reply to a post you are
given the option to chose which groups you want to reply to.

As a matter of netiquette we try and keep posts that are specific to a
particular regional version in that NG. As the UK version of Money is very
different to the US one, it helps responders to give the correct response to
the question if it is posted in the right NG.

As a Microsoft Money user since 1997 I feel that Microsoft is missing out on
a huge oppoturnity with not releasing a 2009 version of Money.

I enjoy using the additional features packed with money that are typically
good for one year like the Experian Credit Monitoring Service.

My subscription to this service has recently expired making my $80 purchase
of Money Plus Premium seem foolish.

If Microsoft isn't going to release a new version then they need to continue
to support features built into the Money Product that many have come to rely
on.

I also have ideas that Microsoft could utilize in newer releases of this
software that would catapult this product into mainstream America and allow
the company to sell many more units.

Thanks,

Phil A. Huddy

Mr. Peel, I have been using Money since it was first released over 10 years
ago. I do buy the new version every year even tho it was not really
necessary. Altho I understanding Microsoft's decision regarding a yearly
release [which I tend to agree with], please be assured that I WILL purchase
the new version when it is released! Take care, and Merry Christmas.

I have had two exchanges of written communication with the second asking
(again) directly about UK stock price updates after 2010 when Microsoft
finally deserts UK Money users. I asked if they will update after end June
next year to which Microsoft UK just said the support stopped a year or so
back and referred me to online knowledge bases - which so far just seem to
deal with past "How to" problems". I feel this does not bode well as I feel
this is a Microsoft fob off. If they do not know what will stop in the
future....... !!

Here in the UK we have "WHICH?" the consumers magazine, that is ad free and
99% subscription funded. It says the best they have tested is
Moneydance(.com) but download the free trial to test it out.

As part of the correspondence, Microsoft UK have said that Money will still
remain operational in respect of: it will not lock down and we can continue
to input transactions.

Personally I would like assurances that UK versions of Money will be
supported in the future.
Totally agree - but it won't happen!
M$ have left UK high and dry - the valiant efforts of MVPs via this
newsgroup is the only effective support here AFAIK.

Older versions of UK Money (2000 thro 2002) do not 'Report Home' and if you
have the retail CD you will be able to install the program on any PC. As far
as I know, there is no better UK home finance program available.
Once installed, you will be able to input transactions manually and input
share/fund prices manually - for ever - (or until your PC expires).
Buy an installation CD on eBay if you don't already have one, and migrate
from whatever version / home finance program you are using.
