I may have been asleep for the past couple of years, but having just
installed 2004 on a new laptop, there are some strange happenings.

I have 2 files and do not recall that when the settings are changed on one,
they automatically change on the other.

For example - I have a cashflow forecast on the home page of both and
changed the dates to 'custom' - I happened to want 12 months on one and only
6 months on the other. This ain't possible!

Has it always been this way ? and is there anything I can do to change it ?

Operating system is Windows XP, Home Edition.

There are various settings which are held in the registry rather than the
file. For example, the investment view. This is fortunate though, as it can
be used to get around some problems. I couldn't say when things were changed
this way, or if they always were like it..

You could try running the files as different XP users, if that would
be worth the effort. Even if you do that, you cannot open Money as a
user while the other user has Money open.

That has occurred to me Cal but as you say - far too much effort involved!
It's obviously my failure to notice, but I would swear that settings were
not transferred when I was using WIN98SE.

I know that some settings are global, and some settings are part of
the file. I don't know how much different versions of Money have
changed that.

I would expect that such changes would follow the Money ;-)
rather than the OS.
