Money has encountered a problem - ME Too!

I just looked at this site and see that I am not the only
one with this problem that started today. I got same
error after entering about 3 months of credit card data
then pressing the home button after I balanced. God I
hope it's not lost.

Do these updates occur automatically? If so how do you
turn them off or get a warning? I guess calling MS
Support is a waste of time since the version of MS 2004
came preinstalled on my computer. So what's the best way
to get some help?

Thanks
Ron

Lets hope. Do you use a Passport on the Money file? I am only
wondering if there is some commonality in this sudden happening.

I am having the same problem. I do NOT use a Passport.
Mine started when I did quote update. When I ran a regsvr
check, the mspfctl0.dll failed. I've done a system
restore and reinstalled Money twice -- no luck.

Looks like we have a ???

Yes, but it is under control. See "This is how you can deal with the
crash problem for now" thread, and delete those two files referenced
there.

Too late. Nobody can "remove" your post. It's propagated world wide now.

This is how you can deal with the crash problem for now.
THIS SOUNDS CRAZY, but it works...I was having the exact same problem!!

Action Required: This can be remedied by removing
stories1.gif and
stories2.gif from the user WebCache (typically
C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Money\12.0
Webcache
for
Money 2004)

**I just did a "search" for stories1.gif and stories2.gif and lo and behold,
it made my money program re-open. I had used it for several months and
suddenly couldn't get into it!!**

I WILL BE BUYING A BACKUP DRIVE.

.
I had the problem and it turned out to be data that was
not entered correctly. I found that just the catagory
was entered and not the sub-catagory when there was a sub-
catagory. After correcting the data, everything went fine.
