Money Or quicken ??? which one is better ???

It's really a bit academic. Quicken has no support as a UK product. Quote:

"Intuit UK has made a difficult business decision to discontinue future
development of Quicken products for the UK market."

And MS Money will soon follow.

But Money will continue to run without downloads for the foreseeable future.
If you look at posts some people are still using M2002.

I use M2001 (on Vista) and have no problems including daily updates of
share portfolio, and .ofc and .ofx files from my banks.

Yes but who knows how long this will last. I (and many others) are
already experiencing problems with fund updates. And maybe banks will
drop support too. After all, why should they support an obsolete product?

The only Bank that really supported Money is the Nationwide. All the others
just provided .ocf and .ofx files which are not exclusive to Money.

Unlike a mechanical device, which may wear out, software should last for
ever or at least as long as you have a compatible PC and operating system;
obsolescence is irrelevant. I shall take good care to keep a 32bit PC,
Windows XP Professional and UK Money 2000 Standard. I do not believe the end
of the share and fund price download service will mark the end of the world.

In the era of financial austerity which we have just entered, and
which will last for some years, is there really absolutely no market
for this type of software any more? I'm still hoping that a niche
software provider will step in and produce a replacement.

As off the 22nd October 2009, Nationwide has kindly dropped all support for
MS Money downlaod, all they do is an ability to extract to a .CSV file

So we all well and truly stuffed......

Give Moneydance a go. It might be the niche software you are looking
for. I've used it for about three months and its fairly easy to
import Money files into it.

Other banks still support OFX file downloads. Hence I am moving all
my accounts away from Nationwide.

Nationwide also win the prize for crap communication since they did
not even notify their customers. All they put is an inconspicous note
on their web site. Ironically if you used Microsoft Money you would
normally have no need to visit their web site.
