move before or after Ch7

I am filing CH 7 soon. I plan to move from renting an apartment to
renting a room in a house soon. (right down the road)..My question is
should I file then move or move first and get my new address then file?
Does it even matter?
I was thinking of possibly just geing a P.O. Box instead also...Any
suggestions?

I got a PO Box specifically for the purpose of receiving mails from my
BK procedures. There was no problem. I got my mailbox to receive BK
mails because I do not want to receive letters with the words of
"Bankrupcy Court" on the envelops at my residence.

If you are going to rent a room in a house and if you do not want your
housemates to find out about your BK, it is a good idea to get a PO
Box. You will receive two letters from Bankrupcy Court, one for 341
meeting and one for the discharge.

Unless there's a substantial difference in your rent payment, or
your new place is in a different state, it doesn't matter.

Please note that most states do not allow you to file using a PO
Box as your primary address. (One can be used as a mailing
address.)

I pay $325 now in my apartment that I split, my lease ends the end of
this month and I do not want to renew for multiple reasons, which
include safety and bad maintenance etc.etc.
I will be paying $475 per month in the house I will be renting, (not
just a room to correct my prior post, but 1/2 run of house..yard, gaage
etc.) I will be paying the owner of the house. (same state)

I am curious should I file while still in my apartment or wait untill I
move to the house then file?.... Will it be a problem since it's more
money? If I file after I move should I just say I'm paying $325 to make
it smoother?

I was considering a PO box for a couple of reasons being in case it
does'nt work out @ the house and so creditors won't send me any more
letter's... but...
I assume that they will know my address regardless since the trustee
will need an actual street address.right?....so I will probably not
bother with a PO Box.

or do they just know about your PO Box?

I am only splitting this house with one other person and they already
know about me filing soon so it's n biggie..
Did the trustee accept a PO Box no problem? or did you have to state
tour home address also?

My past creditors know my address. I have been in this address for
the last 14 months (since July 2002). I have been defaulted for about
3-4 months before I decided to go through with Chap 7 this April. So
they have not begun to harass my with avalanche of mails. But they
have harassed me by phones for the last month, sometimes, 2 calls
every day.

I am in California. I listed my PO Box as my mailing address. No
question was raised. But I also had to list my home residence as
well.

I'm surprised that they still harass you on the phone..I thought that
after you file they arent supposed to contact/harass you?
My main concern is if I should file now or wait untill I move Nov 1st.
I'll be paying a little more in rent but will ba sharing a house...
I just don't want any problems with the Filing...ya know....

Sorry. No, they harassed me through phone calls for a while *before*
I decided to file for Chap 7. Once I decided to file, I just simply
told them over the phone and refered them to my attorney. And they
never called again.

I doubt that it would make a huge difference. If it does, just
amend Schedule J after you move.
