Quicken 2004 Deluxe - My net worth on the home screen is almost twice as
much as when I use the Reports on the menu bar. The Reports option lists my
portfolio value at a little over half of the main screen. Does anyone have
any idea how this could happen. I'm not happy with 2004.

Might have something to do with hidden securities.

I'd go with the number on the home screen, and retire. :)

I have Q2002 so this is just a guess.

If the "home screen" is something of the equivalent of the "My
Finances" screen in earlier versions, the values there include
everything from the beginning of time to the end of time. For
example, the values there include future dated transactions that
you may have entered into your registers from scheduled
transactions. And they include the values of securities priced
at the *newest* price available, even if that price is a price
with a date in the future. Check your registers for future
dated transactions and your security price history for future
dated prices.

Current balance versus ending balance.

Right mouse on the account bar, look at which one is selected, 'Show Current
Balance in Bar' or 'Show Ending Balance in Bar'

Reports report on a date range you select, portfolio report defaults to
today. Account bar is most likely set to Ending Balance, which takes into
account expired stock options or potentially you have a price in one of your
securities at a later date.
