New Deal Gateway

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help - i'm due to go to meet my ND
adviser soon for the "gateway" part of the ND.
From folks experience am I likely to be sent on a course straight away
or does that usually happen during the "intensive" part.
I am thinking about becoming self employed and doing the test trading
(IT freelance type work) I know I won't make a whole lot doing this,
not to start with anyway. If I express an interest in this will I be
sent for different courses?
Thanks K

There is a course they can send you on to help start your own business,
InBiz its called. Asthey dont like people doing things that might improve
their chances of finding worthwhile employment, you will have to persuade
your adviser to let you attend, otherwise its off on the 6 mts CV writing
course for you.

There are no different courses, it's a can you write your name and clean
your arse type course. It takes a while before they send you on the course
anyway and you only need show up for the first day.

Thanks. I gather that new deal advisors are not too keen to entertain
people wishing to do test trading?

If not I will probably go the working tax credit route mentioned
elsewhere in this group. I understand WTC will be marginally less than
my current JSA and I will still be entitled to housing benefit and
council tax credit.
