Hello and thank you all,
My mother in law passed away in August 2015. What exactly does my father in law have to file immediately with the State?
Both of their names are on the deed of the house(paid off) so if 1/2 the value of the house considered in her estate for calculations? If it is then her estate will be over the $675,000.00 or is not considered in her estate?
Even if her estate is NOT over the $675,000.00 does a estate return still have to be submitted to show this?
I guess what my Dad wants to know is what does he have to file? if anything? with the state of New Jersey.
A lot of internet sites say no tax if estate is under $675,000.00, but does this mean you do not have to file and do nothing? or you still have to file to show the estate to under $675,00.00?
Thank you very much
