Payroll Direct Deposits

Does anyone use the direct deposit service offered by Quickbooks? If
so, is there much of a problem with some workers being unbanked and
requiring a physical check anyway?

I sell payroll cards that can be used to receive direct payroll
deposits from services like Quickbooks and I'm trying to determine
whether there is a market among Quickbooks payroll users for this
product.

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks

Todd,

in the US I believe it is an all or nothing situation. If I'm wrong on this,
I'm sure someone will set me straight.

You don't have to have 100% participation in direct deposit programs to
use QB service for that. It can be mixed.

I think what he is asking is how many employees (in a company that offers
direct deposit) do not have bank accounts and still require a paper check.
There are new "debit" cards being offered to such people so they can get
direct deposit and have access to their money, without actually having a
"real" bank account.

I'm not sure what the rational is for the cards, people that do not make
enough money or have bills that require a checking account, probably do not
want/need a debit card either.

I should know better to give information if I'm not 100% sure, thanks for
setting the record straight.

Actually there are millions of people who don't have a bank account
because they screwed one up in the past and can't get one or don't
have the correct multiple forms of identification required by some
banks.

Our cards are issued to anyone who wants one and we only require
verification of their identity by their employer (and we screen them
against the OFAC SDN list).

If they don't have the right forms of ID then they can't fill out an I-9 form to get the job
in the first place. Maybe in the ag field where there is lots of illegal labor and where the
company is expected to cash its own paychecks there might be call for your service.
Otherwise I don't see much call for it.
