Poland-UK accountancy qualifications

Hi,
My neighbours moved to England from Poland a few years ago, the mother of
the family was an accountant back in Poland but now their child is a little
bit older she is looking at getting back into work soon, but has little to
no idea how to go about getting work and qualifying as an accountant over
here, and whether her prior experience/qualifications count for anything?

Any suggestions as to what routes she could take to employment, or where to
point her to for advice, would be very much appreciated.

Cheers.

Depending on what short of job she is looking for, AAT or ACCA would be a
good place to look for qualifications.

Previous experience and qualifications will count for something, but
obviously Polish accounting standards and tax will be different from the
UK.

ACCA is usually good at giving exemptions.
