PPC and Money

I am just wondering,

Is anyone actually using it as a matter of daily practice ? Just I have had
a few major blips with it, today for example altering the settings in active
sync managed to delete 2 weeks worth of transactions from the actual Money
file (I only sync two weeks). Fortunately I do daily backups.... but that
the same time it is a bit risky.

I have unstalled it and am now keeping notes on my ppc to update money when
I get home.

I use it reasonably often (although not at the moment) and didn't have too
many problems. However, i tended to wipe the database on the PPC first
before changing time settings in Activesync.

I am nervous using it now, I have too much valuable info in there for tax
returns for it to get messed up. It seened to me that wiping the database on
the PPC caused the 2 weeks of data to be removed from Money on the desktop.

Although with my daily backup procedure I have a little security - I might
re install Money PPC when I get 2005.

You'll need to. 2005 needs a newer version of the PPC software (which should
be out imminently).

Hi

Before installing by brand new version of M2005 FS I decided to uninstall
Money PPC from my iPAQ. I did this becuase I knew I had to have a new
version of Money PPC for use with M2005 FS.

Having upgraded to M2005 FS I could not work out why my main accounts did
not have any transactions dated after the 08/07/04. I blamed the M2005
conversion routines and tried the conversion several times before I decided
that maybe the problem lay elsewhere.

I uninstalled M2005, reinstalled M2004 and renamed the .M12 files back to
..MNY. When I opened M2004 I realised that the problem was not the M2005
conversion but the fact that I was 12 weeks worth of data missing. Given
that I was syncronising 12 weeks worth of data to my iPAQ I can only assume
that the problem occured when I uninstalled Money PPC.

I'm not sure if there is an answer and whether or not my post is more of a
statement but I'm very grateful that I backed up my machine at the weekend!!

Regards

Ian

The exactly the same thing happened to me last week, thankfully I do nightly
backups and I sync two weeks of data. The experience lead to the
uninstallation money on the ppc - there is too much to loose. It seems that
if you hit "delete money data from PPC" it deletes all the transactions and
then activesync syncs with money on the desktop sees the empty databases on
the ppc and does the same to the transactions.

I've not tested further but I do know that I initiated the uninstall of
Money PPC from Add/Remove programs on my PC.

What I have discovered is that Money PPC is still installed and can be run
on my iPAQ, albeit, with empty databases, however, neither my iPAQ or
ActiveSync will acknowledge its existence and allow me to delete it.

Strange....

yes,

you should have used add remove in activesync to remove first, can you now
not do that ? have you tried the remove programs option on the ipaq ?

I think I have now tried every combination to get Money PPC of off my iPAQ.

Which ever method I use the message on the iPAQ says to let the PC uninstall
finish then click OK, then undock.

All that happens when I click OK is the iPAQ resets and Money has not been
removed.

Even ActiveSync confirms that Money is still on the iPAQ. It seems as
though the iPAQ uninstaller is not running properly.

A hard reset would do it ;-) You';ve removed the Money accounts view from
the PPC front page too? I always do a soft reset or kill all processes
before uninstalling programs on the PPC, just to make sure it's not running
the program i want.

Depending on the iPaq, it might be worth seeing if theres a ROM update for
it. On my iPaq (4150) there was one i put on in September (version 1.10, but
it had been out for a while).
