Problems with Reinstalling QuickBooks 2000

God I'm so hacked off with Intuit - what a bunch of crooks.

My computer died on me, so I reinstalled the OS and all the apps, but when I
called Intuit to unlock my QB2000, they basically said "piss off, we've
withdrawn support and won't give you an unlocking key, you'll have to pay
out for a new program". So I'm screwed. I don't need to upgrade the
software - it does everything I need and I've already paid for a full piece
of software.

Apparently Intuit just don't want to know, so if anyone out there knows of a
hack that'll get around this stupid company and let me get back to using the
program I've paid for, I'll be really grateful.

TIA

Did you try the online request form?

Sometimes the people on the phone are real @$$es.

Post back and let us know what happens when you try the online form.

Yes, I tried everything, including talking to the customer services manager
(ha! More like customer ripoff manager). They cancelled support for QB8 in
May this year, just 2 years after I bought it (is that legal?) and so don't
have the software to generate a code any more.

That's what they told me, anyway. I just think they want to rip off the
customers just a little bit more.

Calling back may indeed help you. I think they have some unlocking key
information on their website.
When I worked at Quickbooks you could contact the office of the
President and sometimes get action. Don't call tech support
but call their Sunnyvale California office complex, if you call
support's number you get a voice mail that well may not be listened to!

I read the post the first time thinking you needed a CD code. You want
your registration number?
What is it you need? They should provide that to you by calling their
registration phone number. Please let us know what
you are in need of.

I'm dealing with Intuit in the UK, and speaking to their senior staff has
generated the same response - we'll only help you if you spend more money.
A friend of mine is doing an article about it.

AH, UK had no way of knowing that from your email address or post.  It's helpful if folks will post country of origin if not US!  It does make
a difference at times.  Well good luck I'm sorry I couldn't help more.

In order to use the product you need an unlocking code from Quickbooks.
Without it, you can't open QB8. But they don't give them out any more,
saying you have to buy a new copy of the software.

I have experienced the same issue with the people at Intuit. I love QB Pro and paid a bundle for a legit copy (Office Max- US) but my pc died, and I tried installing and using on the new drive, it needed a registration code, which the people at Intuit, told me....too bad you're out of luck, you need to buy a newer version of the software.
