Proof of identity

I've just had a letter from my bank, demanding that I send certified
documents to prove my identity.

Not so unusual for a new account, you might think. But I've been an
active customer for over 20 years. WTF?

I've been with Lloyds for about 50 years but I was asked for proof of
identity when I needed to change my credit card. The Lloyds credit
card people accepted a Lloyds bank statement as proof of my identity
and address.

However, they often will not accept the letter that they sent to you as
proof of address but will accept a statement.
