USA Purchasing a New Vehicle with Old Vehicle Trade-in leaving val on loan

We purchased a vehicle in July 2018 that has a loan val of $49479.56.80 and trade in value was $41000 leaving balance due of $8479.56, then we paid $5000 towards val due leaving bad due of $3479.56 which was added to new car loan.
New car purchase value is $30,729 and loan of new car is $38178.05 which includes $3479.56 from trade in car loan balance, how do I book the JE?
