Q04 - Shutting down

Having lurked here for better than a year and have not see this behavior
mentioned, it is now time for me to come out of the shadows and post to this
very useful group.

I have Q04 Premier running on an XP home sp1 w/all critical patches and
updates. The problem is recently Quicken has started shutting down while
open, one second it's there and the next it's gone. I do not see any pattern
to this behavior, i.e. it does not always happen when doing the same thing.
Last night it would do it when entering my password for one step update in
our account, today while working in my mother-in-laws account. There is no
XP Event log entry for Quicken when this happens, so I am even more
perplexed. Could this be due to some corruption in both accounts, and cured
by validating them? If not then I am at a loss, and short of a re-install I
welcome all serious suggestions.

Hi,

I think this issue may have been covered before.

Oddly enough, I was having a similar problem last night! I tried to run
Quicken '04P to do an online update and it would open ... but nothing would be
there. If I took the mouse and ran it across where the buttons would be, they
would appear but then nothing.

I went thru all sorts of hoops -- but finally what worked was to replace my
current files with the most recent Quicken automatic backup files. This opened
correctly.

I then went and took one of my own backups (more recent) and am using those
successfully.

BTW, I updated to Revision 5 - hope that helps more than hurts. I've never had
problems with Quicken in the past. I think I will email them to voice my
displeasure.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply atd1999, but my issue is totally different. The entire
Quicken program disappears, like I said before one second it's there and the
next it's gone and I am looking at my wallpaper. This behavior has only
recently started, possibly with the R5 update I don't think it was any
earlier.
