Q2002 won't let me change cleared status in checking half of CMA

I was trying to re-reconcile my Schwab account recently. when I tried
to change the status of a dividend in the checking account from "R" to
something else I get an error box reading:

"You should make this change from the investment account to avoid losing
transaction detail. Click Go to Transfer from the Edit menu."

So I do that, but whatever I change the status to in the investment
account, the corresponding entry in the checking account remains
steadfastly stuck at "R."

How can I re-reconcile those items?

I think you can do this by forcing a Quicken re-reconcile in the
checing account. If you are planning to unreconcile a transaction,
the reconciled balance in the account will be changing. Click
"Reconcile" at the top of the screen, and give Q the new balance.
When you get the list of transactions, uncheck the transaction you
want un-reconciled. That should get the "difference" to zero, and you
can click "finish".
