Hi could anybody answer this query for me. Thanks

I am at the moment on Income support, was formerly on JSA.
The problem I have is I live in a Victorian house which has three floors
each floor contains a self contained flat.
My Water rates are £163.95 a year. which is about £14 odd a Month and my
benifit is only £54.65 a week, I really can't afford this can I get
assistance towards this payment.?

Thanks ever so much.

No, sorry. That is what income support is for, your essential outgoings,
like water, gas, electric, food. You can pay weekly or fortnightly on a
budget scheme. If you ring them up they will send you a payment card. You
can do this with your gas and electric too.

Water rates are specifically an item that you cannot claim an increase of
Income Support, JSA or Housing Benefit for. They are considered part of the
daily expenses that your ordinary income Support or JSA is intended to cover.
This has been the case since 1988, prior to that you could get a rebate or
additional benefit to cover water charges.
