Quicken 2015

Amazon.com has Quicken 2015 for download starting today. Anyone here
get it yet? What do you think of it? Are the differences/improvements
between it and 2014 worth the money ($74.95 for Quicken Deluxe) or is
this one of the years I should skip?

I don't see Quicken Deluxe 2015 for Windown on the Intuit Quicken Website? Where
is Amazon.com getting it from?

From Intuit of course. It takes time to package and ship the CDs out to the
retailers. In the past Intuit has been reluctant to piss off the retailers by
offering downloads early. As retail sales become less important, I supose that
reluctance goes away.

That said, I think I'll wait for a deal rather than pay $75 for the download of
QD2015.

Replacing Quicken more often than once every THREE years is simply THROWING
your money away. Period. If you have money to burn, best just throw the $75
out the window.

Thanks, I will also.

I'm not sure I'll get it at all. Each new version seems to have less
and less in the way of improvements that look valuable, and so far,
there seems to be nothing new of value to me here. But I'm open to
being persuaded otherwise, if somebody here has more info.

Although I haven't missed any of the last few years' releases, I used
to buy a new one only every other year. I think I'll probably go back
to that practice and this will be another year I'll skip (unless a
deal that's so good I can't turn it down comes along).

Got it last night, been using 2011, needed the online update feature
otherwise I don't use all the bells and whistles. so far everything is
smooth and updates working after tweaking. After hearing 2014 wasn't
worth getting I am glad I waited. Recommend it so far!

I just got 2015. One of my financial instiutions is not connecting through direct connect (NMIS). I have reset the online connection several times but no luck. Error OL-220-A I can connect through their website. Any ideas?

Thanks

I always wait for it to appear at Costco in Disk. I would rather download but it is sold for $60 (a significant percentage savings) and old habits diehard. I very seldom find the upgrade of one year to be worth the cost and some features like mobile were of no interest to me at all. Still, I like getting a new program for $5/month on average so I splurge.

Thank you, that was very helpful.

Shark,

A very unhelpful and useless comment. There is nothing in AR post, clipped
below, that indicates the version of Quicken being updated. For all you
know, he may be updating a version that has "sun set" or is about to be. The
comments related to upgrading from 2014 to 2015 were Ken Blake's not AR's.

I would hope that you realize, by now after all these years, that your
opinion about how people should 'mange their money' is well known. I have no
idea why you find it necessary to continue to beat a 'dead horse'.

If you can offer AR and solution to his 'Error OL-220-A issue, I'm sure that
he'd appreciate you help. If not, posting a sarcastic reply is not necessary
or appreciated.

Yes, if I get it, I will also probably wait for a lower price, either
at Costco or elsewhere. But I haven't decided yet whether to get it,
and I was hoping someone here who had it and has used it could help me
make up my mind.

For many years, I would buy it about every other year, but I've bought
all of the last few. Why? I don't really know, and there have been
hardly any benefits to me in doing so. So my preliminary thoughts are
to skip this year, but I can be talked into changing my mind, if there
are good reasons not to skip it.

I just wait for my usual 3 year sunset,
as I mostly need Q for the online download for my various investments.
Currently running Q2012 - so....coming up...

For me, I just might wait a while and then try Q2015, and hope that it
fixes the downloading crashes and other nuisances that I experience Q2014.

Crashes? Nuisances? I experience neither in Quicken 2014. It's been
fine here.

I used to get Q every year week it appeared. Yes, I know others find
this silly, but I used to get a nerdish enjoyment of playing with a new
version of financial software. To me, it's a hobby.

I don't find it silly, and I understand your treating it as a hobby.
But that's not me.

Saying this, Q has had very little functional upgrades over the past few
years, EVEN FOR ME.

True. When a product has been around for a long time, the manufacturer
runs out of possible improvements.

I have gone to buying the Turbotax bundle with Q which typically appears
in the late November timeframe. Thus, the reason for this long winded
post. One might consider holding off until then for the bundle.

I've done that several times, too. But this year, I expect to have a
professional do my taxes, so I won't be buying TurboTax.

After every download from brokerage, bank or credit card, Quicken 2014
crashes. Fortunately, the downloaded data makes it into Quicken before the
crash.

Nuisances: the screen is flickering *a*lot* whenever I change screens, and
the screen refreshes are quite slow. Very annoying, especially when
you're looking intently at the screen. That, plus a bunch of other
annoyances that I've submitted to Intuit early on in the 2014 release cycle
(i.e., a little less than a year ago). But so far, none has been fixed,
and I've gotten absolutely zero feedback on my detailed problem reports.

At this point I'm hoping that the fixes make it into Q2015. If not, then I
will be evaluating my need for Quicken, and whether or not I want to
continue to support the company.
