Read only error from 11-20-04

I'm still having trouble with this...

I'm using Money 2003 Deluxe, had some troubles with the disk, now I'm trying
to restore from a backup file.

I get a erreor message stating that money cannot locate or open the file
possibly beacuse it is read only or the disk is write protected. I've
unchecked the read only boxed of all money files and I still get the message.
Any hope of recovering anything?

I've tried to restoring to a new file name and directory without success.
It appears to start the restore process but it immediately comes back with
the read only error message.

Thanks

Where is the backup file?

If in a command window, you run
cacls *.mbf
on the folder that contains the .mbf file, what does it say?
The purpose of asking is that if the file is on an NTFS volume, is
it accessible to you? Expect to see "cc/uu:F" on a line where cc
represents the computer name and uu represents your user name.

If in a command window, you run
cacls %tmp%
and
cacls %temp%
do you get that same "cc/uu:F" on a line in the responses? The
purpose of asking is to see if these directories that Money may use
are fully accessible to you.

Don't give up. Keep an extra copy of you backup file. You might try
copying an extra copy of your backup file(s) to a USB flash drive
and trying the restore from there.
