Hello! I went to college for accounting but got side lined due to an eye issue. One Dr. Said I was going blind. Went to another after I dropped out already and it turned out to be something super easy to correct.

I have $65,000 in student loans, I took out extra to pay the doctors.

I am thinking about opening shop doing bookkeeping and tax prep until I get my loans taken care of. I have a full-time job in an unrelated field but am hoping by doing a side business I can retain my knowledge, keep learning, and one day obtain my CPA.

I look forward to all your insight.

Keep up with your studies as best you can, even if going to another school part time if needed to complete your CPA. I think opening a side business is a good idea and I encourage all to give entrepreneurship a shot. Check out the podcast $100 MBA, it is a great podcasts for small business. This might help give you some needed info in opening your small business, as well as some context as to what your primary customer base might be like.

Good luck!
