SAGE - Odd behaviour displaying Bank Balances

Sir Awl

Hello everyone,

I may have difficulty explaining this one, I do not use Sage, but a
local businessman does, Sage Line 50 Accountant, I do not know the
version.

When clicking on the Bank tab to show bank balance details the Petty
Cash line always displays in RED. Performing a Reconcile converts the
line to BLACK, but with no change to the value. Enter any outstanding
Transactions and the line remains BLACK. Minimise the window and then
restore it and it comes up RED again. The value is actually a positive,
the account is in credit.

We have tried restoring to an earlier date where the line displays
correctly, and then re-inputting the data. Entering the cash collected,
the line continues to display Black, but once the Payments Out have been
entered it starts to behave as above.

There is clearly a glitch - or some kind of rogue transaction - that
forces the line to be displayed in Red [ irrespective of whether the
Petty Cash is in Credit ] whenever the window is opened/restored.

Has anyone had a similar occurrence, and can anyone offer a cure, please

Does it show a Dr balance or a Cr balance?

See line above............. it is in Credit
"The value is actually a positive" and "the account is in credit" -
sign of confusion.

There's your answer!

My question was whether it shows a Dr balance or a Cr balance. You say
it's in credit yet you also say the value is actually a positive. This
is contradictory.

There's some mistake in the accounting if the balance is negative. You
can't have a negative petty cash balance because at the very minimum
there can only be no petty cash.

The red figure indicates that the balance is negative.

You really need to get someone who knows accounts or bookkeeping to
have a look at what is going on.
