sales tax on amazon?

F

frank

hello, i sell books on amazon.com, and i live in a state
that charges sales taxes. If someone in my state buys the
book, I assume I have to charge my customer sales tax, do i
not?

But here is the problem, unlike ebay, amazon.com does not
differentiate between buyers' locations, so i can't say
"residents of CA must add x dollars to the price . . . "
in order to collect sales tax from in-state buyers, i have
to add it to every book i sell regardless of where the buyer
is.

is there a way around this? i hate to charge out of state
people if i don't have to. --fj
