Santander - You don't really want a receipt do you....

Paid 3 grand into my Santander current account today and was asked if I
wanted a receipt! Hell no - I don't need a receipt - I trust you
implicidly - to pocket the money and say I never paid it in.

I thought Barclays (according to the Times letter pages) were the only ones
playing these games (one of their staff was convicted recently of trousering
money paid in by customers - many of whom were refused receipts!)

Anyone else been given an "optional" receipt or no receipt at all after
depositing money?

IME it's quite normal to be asked.

No one blinks when you say yes.

An associated observation: my aged and housebound ma said she had a
small win on the Euro Lottery. I took the ticket into a Co-op last week
and asked the lout to check it. He put it through the scanner, said it
was was not a winner and made as if to bin it. I said that it was
someone else's ticket and I'd better take it back to them. Checked
online, and confirmed the win. I wonder how many of these get trousered
because the 'customer' believes the machine rather than his own eyes.
