USA Section 179 Depreciation Deduction for Non-Profit Organizations

Is it relevant for non-profit to consider section 179 depreciation deduction in decision making to buy an asset? If the deduction amount is higher than income in the year of purchase then the deduction can be carried forward and set off against profits in the following years when available.

However, I believe since the income is not taxable in case of non-profits it doesn't matter if section 179 is availed of or not. Any thoughts?
