This has been a lot of fun. I get the mechanics of what should happen here, but getting my tax software (Drake) to behave is another.

Wife - works and lives in CA (all year)
Husband - works and lives in CT (all year)

MFJ - federal
CA - MFS - 1/2 of wife's income, withholdings go to husband.
I'm assuming with husband in CT working / living in CT all year, he would file a CT resident return, correct?

I enter info for Form 8958 to split the income, but it won't show it split when I run the calculation. Is there another way this income could be split?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated,

Rich

Take a look at california franchise board publication 1031 page 3. It says since wife is Calif resident AND Calif is a community property state then all her income and half of yours is taxable by Calif. (sorry)
