SQL database and OA

This might be a stupid question but i am going to ask.
Since i started using OA i have not been doing purchase orders, received
items from
vendors and the such. now months later and hundreds of invoices later I need
to add
purchased items. is there a way to OBDC to SQL and add amount of items
purchased?
All the items numbers are in the item list and have sold hundreds, but never
put in received. Since each item number/sku is setup revolving around a
preferred vendor, which is setup, can i insert into the database somewhere
the number i have purchased and the price purchased for into the database and
have it update my cost vs. sale?

You have permission to smack me if stupid!
