USA Starting a small accounting business

Hello, I'm looking to attend college in the fall of 2013. I'm going to be a junior and can finally pick a major. I'm thinking about accounting but I want to work for myself if I do major in accounting. Can I work for myself with a bachelors degree in accounting just to start out, then later finish my CPA? I would want to start out by renting a small shop and doing people's personal and business taxes, I just don't know enough about accounting to elaborate. Please leave some feed back.

Hi Wildwilly,
You can start offering some tax services with your BSc Accounting, this is largely dependent on the prevailing legislation in your area. The only problem that you may have is getting people to trust your service.
I suggest you take some basic tax certifications just to add some credibility to your business. Also think of how to get clients.
