I recently started a new job and this was one of the questions that came up in my registration. It popped up on the screen as something along the lines:
Based on which of the two do you want [your tax amount to be calculated on]?
1.) Federal w2
2.) State w2
This is the first time that I got "hit" with this question actually, and frankly I couldn't really ask my manager because he wouldn't know. This sort of thing just isn't his cup of tea. Anyway, I live in NJ but went with option 1 (to use Federal w2).
Any guess as to whether I made the right choice? I'm an hourly employee. What would be the process to toggling between the options if I needed to? I'm sure I wouldn't be the first.
