A case in which I was formerly involved has been appealed to
the US Tax Court. The petition is to review the the
reporting position I took in filing the return. As you
might expect, I am flattered that my client has gone to the
trouble and expense of seeking a court review of my work.
This is true even though his new attorney talked him into
firing me so that the attorney's accountant friend could
take over.

Do any of you tax experts know how to get a copy of the
petition and other pleadings in the case? I am sure they
are public record but I can't find any one who is supplying
them over the internet or otherwise.

Go to the Tax Court's web site to find out the docket number
for the case. You'll also be able to see a list of the
different pleadings that have been filed with the court.
The docket website is http://www.ustaxcourt.gov/docket.htm

Once you know what you'd like copies of, contact the copying
department of the Tax Court clerk's office. Let them know
the docket number and the name of the document you are
requesting. They'll make a copy and send it to you.
Current price is $0.50 per page. The copy office phone
number is 202-606-8906.

If they're like any other court, I'd contact a process
serving company or legal messenger service in D.C. and ask
them to go to the court to get a copy for you.

Did you try writing to the court clerk's office and asking them?
