In months that have 5 Sundays, our church provides a lunch for homeless at another church on the 5th Sunday. There is a lady who leads this mission and when it is time for us to provide the meal, she asks for donations. Some members of our church just hand cash to her directly and it doesn’t get turned in to our church. My question is the cash that is given directly to her is it tax deductible and should our church be putting it on the members end of year contribution statements?
