Money 2003 been working fine for 2 years. 2 days ago, started giving error
"This Operation Cannot Be Performed" only when exiting the program and only
if a change was made (if no change is made, no error). No major changes
made in last two days.

First, don't overwrite your backup files.

See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;274584

See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=104

Also consider restoring a backup that predates your problems. If no
suitable backup exists, you probably want to review your backup
policy.

I have exactly the same issue since last week. I have tried the proposed
solution(s). Unfortunately they don't seem to work. What I find strange is
that files that were working properly last week (I keep copies on another
disk), have the same problem today. To me it seems related to an automatic
wndows update with nr KB890830. Can't figure it out in detail though.
Please advise.

If the "cash flow forecast" is not displayed at the bottom of the account
register the problem vanishes (the hourglass that pops up randomly vanishes
also).

Daniel,
Exactly the same scenario for me too. Money 2003 working just fine for 2
years, then yesterday "The operation cannot be performed" keeps popping up. I
have tried all the fixes microsoft suggest, but no luck. Old files ( 3 months
old) work OK, but my current back up files have the problem above. I am
resigned to exporting all accounts and reimporting to make a clean file,
possibly to start this tax year. Lengthy process and very annoying after 8
trouble free years as a Money user!
Makes you wonder if a windows update file has conflicted or something.
Tim.

Have you used the file repair feature.....

Sounds like you have a corrupted file (which in money is not uncommon).

Arge,
Thanks for your reply. Yes have tried the file repair feature, it says there
is a problem in the table build, but can't fix it. I have been into billing,
cash flow, budgets etc, but can't trace a problem. As long as I keep the cash
flow feature in accounts switched off, the file runs OK, but I am therefore
not getting the full benefits of using Money.
Tim.
