Transfering my money plus program to a new computer?

richg99

I bought my Money Plus on line last September. I need to move it and its
backup files to a notebook for traveling. I have the codes etc. and hoped
to be able to simply go to the "digital river" site noted on my bill. That
site bounces???

Any ideas how i can move my program to my notebook on line. I did not buy a
disk, I bought it on-line ( wish I hadn't done that! ) any help
appreciated. thanks Rich

If you didn't:

a) pay for extended download service, or
b) pay for the CD, or
c) keep a copy of the downloaded setup executable, then

You are out of luck.

https://www.findmyorder.com/ would be the site that I would expect
to be in your ack email.

There was also an extended download service offered that you wish
you had opted for.

Search all of your drives for a file with name Money_Plus*.exe which
is over 30 MB in size. If you have the install file, that should
find it. There is a free application called "Agent Ransack" that may
search more completely than your other searches.

I think you can download the trial software from the MS site and
activate it with your activation code.

Unfortunately, that is not correct. There is no place to enter the
activation code in the trial version.

OK... I guess I get the message...I didn't pay for anything special other
than the original $39.99 cost so I probably am stuck...right? Doesn't seem
fair but I should have read all of the directions and checked out my future
needs. I didn't do so....and I have no one to blame but myself.

I went to the second Digital River site that was suggested to "find my
order" but they needed a password that I didn't have. They were going to
send my password to my email address...but..it still hasn't arrived??? They
have my correct email address because I have the order acknowledgement right
in front of me that they sent in September 08.

I also did a search on my Vista equipped "main" computer for ...
money_plus*.exe ... and the search SHUTS DOWN MY COMPUTER??? I tried the
search on both my "main computer" and on my notebook with the exact same
shutting down results????

Hmmmm???

What about this...I buy another program for $39.99 ( duhhh?? any cheaper
place??) and install it on my notebook. Can I then just take my last backup
from the "main" computer and move it over to my notebook? I then run my new
MONEY PLUS on the notebook. Will it load the old data and put me back in
business??

Any problem moving things back in a few months when I no longer am
travelling? Thanks very much for all of your help. Rich

Test that email address by sending an email to yourself.
They
have my correct email address because I have the order acknowledgement right
in front of me that they sent in September 08.
The other alternative was the email address plus the last 5 digits
of the CC number.

Weird symptom. I recommend "Agent Ransack". Do a search.

That works, or copy the *.mbf file.

Just copy the *.mny file or a fresh *.mbf file. A USB flash drive is
handy for that.

While you are at it, review your backup policy. TrueCrypt is nice
for making an encrypted volume on a USB flash drive.

Review your backup policies for Money and everything else, while you
are thinking about it. Hard drives fail. Laptop computers get
stolen.

Cal, thanks for your help...

****Test that email address by sending an email to yourself.***
I did that. MY email address is correct and works on the test.

*****The other alternative was the email address plus the last 5 digits

I did that and they respond "incorrect order number". I copied the order
number and.... checked it (3) times.... from THEIR email to me acknowledging
the order???

****Weird symptom. I recommend "Agent Ransack". Do a search.***
I downloaded "Agent Ransack" (thank you). It could not find the missing
file, but at least it did a thorough search and did not shut down my
computer!!!

I have an external hard drive which use for monthly back-ups. It does NOT
copy programs, only data. The data is now on my notebook awaiting my
resolution of the "move the Program" issue.

Since the "find your order" site didn't recognize my order number...I double
checked the debit to my bank account ( it occurred properly) and I have
sent an inquiry to the "customer service"area with all details. I am hoping
that they will allow me to buy a CD or an "extended use" at this late date.
If not, I am stuck buying a new program just for the few months use in my
notebook.

regards and thanks very much, Rich

You might get 2 months free from the 2-month free Deluxe trial.

Found my password and Money Plus allowed me to buy another disk for ten
bucks via mail. Thanks for all of your help here. Rich
