Turbotax Question

I have a legal copy of Turbotax 2002 which I want to install, but I do not want
to be forced to register for security reasons. I seem to recall that
registration would not be required six months after April 15 - I presume
because that is the end of the automatic grace period allowed by the IRS. Can
someone tell me how to install without registering. When I try it, it won't let
me get past the screen where it wants to connect to the internet. I apologize
if this is the wrong group to be asking Turbotax questions. I couldn't find any
others.

I'd call TT and explain your situation. I bought TT last year and had no
activation problem (perhaps one of the lucky ones). I removed program
(add/delete panel) and got rid of the "gorilla", called TT for another
version without activation which they sent me. Worked fine. Called again and
got my free state which I had d/l without activation. Called again for
another state I required & they sent me url to d/l that. I redid my tax and
it came out perfectly the same as with the activation tt cd.

The short is that TT (Intuit) has been extremely helpful to me (I'm sure
they are looking for my 2003 order). However cost wise I'm going TaxAct this
year (32.90 TA vs 69.90 TT). As with any new program I'm sure there will be
a learning curve but hopefully it will be smooth. If not, then it's back to
TT in 2004.

Have you checked Intuit's website?

It appears you still have to activate it, and install the Safecast
license checker, only it won't reject your product key.

I hope you had better luck with tax act than I did with tax cut. I finally
went and bought turbo tax and quit trying to use the junk from h&r block.

Bob I used Tax Act this year and could not have been happier and also saved
money besides. I'll not boast that the returns I did were the most complex
but then again I know when I've reached a limit and then it's time to call
in a CPA. When I think of the money I spent in prior years with TT federal
and States, well enough said.

What problem(s) did you have with TaxCut that you didn't have with TurboTax?
