Upgrade OA 2007 Pro to OA 2008 Pro

Hi all,

I have an existing Office Accounting 2007 Professional install. I own (but
haven't installed yet) OA 2008 Pro. I am not sure how to upgrade from OA
2007 Pro to OA 2008 Pro. I have backed up my Company Database in prep for
the upgrade.

I thought there might be an "upgrade wizard" in the OA 2008 Pro install, but
I was afraid to go thru it w/o knowing exactly what the proper steps are to
do this.

Is there an "upgrade wizard" in the install? Or, is there another way to
move from 2007 Pro to 2008 Pro? I have looked everywhere on Microsoft's
website (and the Office site too) and "googled" around for this info but I
can't find anything.

TIA : )

The simplest way to do this is to install MOA 2008. You can have both 2007
and 2007 installed side-by-side .
You can then try out a 2008 sample company or create a new company if you
like.
Once you are ready to upgrade you simple open 2008 and open the 2007 company
by browsing to the sbc-file.
This will take you to the upgrade wizard which will take a backup and
upgrade. After it has been upgraded you can no longer open it in 2007 but
you could restore the backup in 2007 and use it if you want to go back.

Hi Jesper,

Thank you for your prompt feedback.

I have a few followup questions:
1. I have Outlook BCM installed on the same machine and have OA 2007 Pro and
BCM integration turned on. Thus, they share the same SQL instance .\MSSMLBIZ
(sp?). Will there be any issues with the fact that BCM is installed and
integration is turned on? I assume that I'll have to reconfigure OA 2008 Pro
for the BCM integration since it's a new install.

2. Is there anything special I need to do to completely remove OA 2007 Pro
or is the typical Uninstall via Add/Remove Programs sufficient?

3. So in theory I could completely remove OA 2007 Pro first (leaving my
database backups), reboot, then install OA 2008 Pro, correct?

4. If #3 is a valid option, which approach is recommended? Does it matter?

Thank you again for your time : )
