Upgrade QB Pro 99 to QB Pro 2006

I've inherited a client who has QB Pro 99 and needs to upgrade to QB Pro
2006 (quite a leap). Does anyone know if there are any anticipated problems
with this or will it be as simple as installing over QB 99 (or doing a
parallel install of QB 2006) and then QB 2006 will transfer and convert the
QB 99 database? The workstation is WinXP Pro and exceeds the minimum system
requirements for QB Pro 2006.

Thanks for any help or thoughts.

If the conversion DOESN'T work, you can download "trial" copies of earlier
versions of QB and convert/convert/convert until you get current.

In Canada, any intermediate versions that may be required for a
multi-step conversion are included on the CD.

I do recommend you install 2006 in a new folder so you still have use
of the old version "just in case". You can always uninstall the old
version at a later date.

Thanks for the tips guys.
My wife's business just made the even bigger leap from
QuickBooks Basic 5.0 to QuickBooks PRO 2006 without any
problems, that we have observed. As suggested, we kept backups
of the old Company File and left the old version of QuickBooks
installed on the Windows XP Home Edition machine she uses,
although it would already be very painful to try to go back.
The timing seemed right for her small business. The local Sam's
Club had QB PRO 2006 for $160 (Including sales tax) and we got
the $80 rebate offer for registered users upgrading from any
version of QB Basic (which has been discontinued) to QB PRO
2006.
So far, so good on the rebate. About 2 weeks after mailing the
claim, the Rebate Center reported that "A check request for
$80.00 is being processed" and the Error(s) field reported
"None".
