Voluntary unemployment

Hello

I am considering stopping work in January to do some training for a few
(maybe up to 4) months before getting a new job.
The training is not an organised course but self study.

As I will be voluntarily unemployed JSA is not allowed for 6 months,
besides I will have savings that would disqualify me.

what is the situation for council tax? Is it possible to get council tax
benefit when the low income is of my own volition?

Thanks!

In the Extra Info section of the HB claim form

Yes but you may not qualify. To find out visit

<http://www.shrewsbury.gov.uk/benny/>

or various other sites for a trial calculation.

If in doubt claim, and claim promptly as it's not retrospective.
Anyone know if the NI stamp is paid during this 6 month period?

Surley leaving a job for training to further your career etc is a
perfectly acceptable thing to do. You may not be able to claim JSA
while on the course but once the course is finished I can't see a
reason why you should not if you can't get a job straight away( except
that you have savings)
